Disposable Vapes  June 2025

It has been illegal to sell or supply disposable vapes in the UK since June 2025 

 

This applies to both shops and online retailers 

 

There is a fine of £200  for non-compliance, along with the possibility of a prison term of up to 2 years for repeat offenders 

 

Trading standards are authorised to seize any vapes being sold 

 

Only Reusable devices can be sold legally:-

must be one of the following 

rechargeable batteries 

replaceable coil 

refillable 

 

Disposing of vapes:-   return to stores or recycling centre for specialist handling.

 

 

Vaping rules changes 

Already subject to vat 20% tax 

 A new vaping duty will start on 1 October 2026.

 

The duty introduces a  flat rate charge of £2.20 per 10ml vaping liquid.

 

Tobacco tax will be increased at the same time.

 

There will be a ban on vape advertising and sponsorship introduced under the Tobacco and Vapes Bill

 

Massive crackdown on illegal vapes will continue through enforcement action
